Based on statistics compiled by StatCounter, on March 18, 2012 and Google Chrome web browser has become the most popular applications in the world, ahead of Internet Explorer. Google Chrome controls 32.71% of users, a little over Internet Explorer is 32.5%. This position is then shifted back by Internet Explorer in the following days.

Google Chrome was first released in September 2008 is still in beta. After that, in three and a half years, Chrome overtake Opera, Firefox, and Internet Explorer if only for a day. Firefox is shifted from the second position in December 2011 and now Firefox is ranked third with a share of 24.81%.
