Microsoft
and Nokia announced that they had each invested some EUR 9 million to the
program titled AppCampus mobile application development. Based in Finland, the
program was launched in May and will be governed by the Aalto University.
Nokia
and Microsoft hope to lose this program can attract enthusiasts and
entrepreneurs around the world for the Windows platform Phone, Symbian and
S40.Although supported big names Microsoft and Nokia, Windows Phone application
ecosystem is still lacking the attention of the developers of upscale
applications. In the new Marketplace apps there are 70 thousand, and there is
no popular names like Angry Birds Space, Draw Something and Instagram.
The
developers put a WP as the lowest priority. With this program Microsoft is
expected to change that trend. 18 million euro incurred duet Microsoft-Nokia
may seem small compared to 200 million dollars disbursed in the Apple iFund
program, but still it is a good business.
