The last few days we often hear news of nano-SIM, but no actual sightings or illustrations that will shape these nano-SIM. Prototype and the illustrations are now revealed as reported by the media The Verge.

The Verge has seen the proposal submitted by Apple and a prototype developed by Oberthur Technologies, the shape of the prototype is almost the same as the form of micro-current driver's license, but with no plastic frame around the chip at all. Nokia to complain about this, as underlined by the ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) that this new format should not be inadvertently caught in the micro-SIM slot, which can happen with Apple if included in the inverted state.
This design requires a tray to keep the position and physical size of the largest among the others (12.3 mm x 8.8 mm).

As expected, Nokia and RIM's proposal also has its drawbacks. With its more like a microSD card, this form has a more radical design than ever before, and therefore may not be used in micro-SIM slot or regular SIM slot and force users to only use the phone with the appropriate slot.

The design is displayed as shown below may be helpful to understand why the operators prefer Apple's design compared to Nokia and RIM. Apple's choice with a more simple design that is easier to market operators and customers can more easily keep changing their mobile devices. Nano-SIM is designed to keep abreast of current and future technologies, so that a device does not need to provide a great place for a SIM slot and can use the site for other media such as a battery or storage media.
