Samsung
reportedly ready to reach into his pocket for 1.9 billion dollars to create a
new factory that will produce 20nm and 14nm processors Exynos starting next
year. These processors will be more powerful than the chips used on the Samsung
Galaxy S III is using 32nm technology.
According
to the president of Samsung Electronics System LSI Business, Stephen Woo, the
plant should be built so that they can meet the demands of clients and the
global IT industry. As an illustration, Gartner says that the chip business
will grow about 20% between the years 2011-2016 with the business potential of
59.4 billion dollars.
With
the new technology is the power required chip will be lower, according to
market demand and users. It may be that the processor will be the brains for
the upcoming Samsung flagship smartphone, like the Samsung Galaxy S IV.
Samsung's
competitors in the chip is also not standing still. Qualcomm is currently
working on S4 processor quad-core 28nm Krait to be ready at the end of the
year. While NVIDIA is working to integrate into the LTE radio Tegra processor
quad-core 3 hers, with 3 28nm Tegra products will be available in 2013. If you
look at these developments, it could be the Samsung one step ahead of its
competitors.
