Bigger
is not better, although it is no doubt that many photographers would drool with
a super telephoto lens this long. Nikon has announced the longest lens they
ever made: a 800mm f/5.6 lens, which offers full compatibility with their FX
series SLR. As with other Nikon lenses that use F-mount, you can use it on a
Nikon DX or even one with an appropriate adapter.
This
lens replaces the previous 800mm lens already been discontinued since 2005.
With this long lens, this lens seems to only be reached by deep-pocketed
photographers. But the official price has not been announced although the most
likely to reach thousands of dollars. Professional photographers will have
access to this lens in Open Championship golf tournament, while public will see
it in the annual bi photo exhibition Photokina in Cologne, Germany.
