It
is known that HTC will also soon close its offices in Korea, this is due to
lower sales of mobile phones owned by Taiwanese vendors there. HTC did not
inform how many people will be laid off due to the closure of this office, but
known to the vendor wants its employees to re-apply for a job within the
company.
HTC stated that the closure of this office is
a serious step which would affect a lot for those who have given contribution
in the development of HTC in recent years. According to analysts, the South
itself is a tough market to be penetrated by a foreign vendor or outside the
country.
HTC
only has 2% market share in the country until 2011, and 1% market share in the
first quarter of 2012 and while the example only Korean vendors LG, Pantech,
and Samsung have mastered up to 90% of the market. Actually, HTC hopes to be
able to stabilize Their second quarter earnings with the release of their
One-line HTC, but it seems the move was not enough.
