Twitter
reveals that the London 2012 Olympics
opening ceremony produce more than 9.66 million tweets. The number of
tweets on the first day of the biggest sporting event of the Beijing Olympics
over tweet from the year 2008.
This
difference is not so surprising really, since the micro blogging site has been
growing rapidly since 2008. Now, Twitter has distributed 340 million tweets per
day, a figure that is still fairly reasonable for the London 2012 Olympic
opening tweet.
Twitter
does not disclose the amount of the highest tweet spike at the opening ceremony
on Friday, London time. But the tweet that sent Tim Berners-Lee - the director
of World Wide Web Consortium (W3) - when on stage got the retweet more than
10,000 times.
