From
the information obtained by BGR India from several industry sources, Nokia will
shut down its operations in India and throughout Asia Pacific. This news comes
after the CEO of Motorola Mobility, Dennis Woodside confirmed that the company
will release 20 percent of its workforce and reduce their operations in India.
BGR try to send an email and phone call to Motorola Mobility PR APAC region,
but so far no answer.
It
seems like only employees working on projects related to Motorola products in
the United States to be maintained. Motorola will continue to sell its products
until stocks run out; service center also will continue to operate. An
independent real estate firm has also confirmed that the property and R
& D facility in Hyderabad Motorola is ready for sale.
In
the Asia Pacific, Motorola will close stores in all countries except Australia
and Korea. From the news it appears that the Asia-Pacific region to share the
burden of Motorola's decision to close a third of their 94 global offices. Woodside
previously indicated his company would exit unprofitable markets, stop making
low-end devices and focus on some phones only.
