Facing
budget problems are depleted, the U.S. space agency NASA has made a lot of ways
to defend ourselves as a leader in space exploration. Examples are PhoneSat
project, which aims to build and launch satellites easily into orbit at low
cost.
Experts
at NASA using existing hardware on the Nexus One Google phone as the brain of
the mission PhoneSat 1.0. However, the satellite is only live for a short time
to take pictures and send them back to base. Meanwhile, nanosatelit will
monitor the health of the device itself and provides information of any errors
that occur.
PhoneSat
2.0 will have better capabilities, NASA using the Nexus S as the brain, with
other upgrades, including S band two-way radio (allowing NASA to control the
satellite from the earth), solar panels for longer flight time, and a GPS
transponder. Surely NASA would try to keep the total cost of each satellite is
not up to $ 3500. PhoneSat three systems (two PhoneSat 1.0, and a PhoneSat 2.0)
is scheduled to be rolled this year.
