In a world that increasingly advanced in terms of technology, perhaps most of the world already enjoy and not have to worry about electrical facilities that are available everywhere. But what will happen to people in other parts of the world who want to enjoy the technology but will have limited power resources?
Recently, Nokia had announced that it will launch a program to focuses on the African continent to help some people make the process of charging their mobile phones without the need to find a power outlet. This project will produce a portable solar charger devices.
The device charger uses a thin panel and comes with a cable length of 3 meters and a typical Nokia 2mm connector. Charger is quite light only weighs 93 grams only. For a minute charging it can be produce up to two minutes talk time.
Residents of Kenya and Nigeria were selected to participate in this program, as based on data from the World Bank, only 16 and 51 per cent of Kenya and Nigeria has regular access to electricity between 2007 and 2011. There is no information on when Nokia will expand this program to other parts of the world.
