Youth between the ages of 21 and 30 years can begin to apply for RM200 rebate for the purchase of a selected 3G smart phone from the registered dealer from January 1st,2013.
Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Datuk Mohamed Sharil Tarmizi said application under the Youth Communication Package can be made through the online registration at http://nbi.skmm.gov.my/.
The scheme is based on first come first serve and dedicated to 1.5 million youths who qualify for the smartphone as long as stocks last, he said in a statement yesterday.
Mohamed Sharil said youth eligible for the RM200 rebate can buy selected 3G smartphones priced up to RM500 from selected distributors and agents appointed by service providers.
"The aim is to expand the incentives include low-income youth who have yet to use a smart phone and can not afford to upgrade their old phone 2G to 3G smartphone base," he said.
